Over 1,300 people died in road accidents in Uzbekistan in 9 months

In Uzbekistan, 5,895 road accidents occurred in January-September 2025, resulting in 1,303 deaths and 4,592 injuries, stated Qutbiddin Burkhanov, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security.

According to official data, the number of road accidents decreased by 3.8% compared to the same period last year - from 6,127 to 5,895. The number of deaths decreased by 4.8%, and the number of injuries decreased by 3.5%.

The number of accidents involving pedestrians also decreased by 5.8%, which amounted to 2,689 cases. According to Burkhanov, these results are associated with an increase in traffic culture, an improvement in the driver training system, and an increase in digitalization processes.

Nevertheless, the senator noted that in some regions, problems such as the lack of road signs, poor road quality, and the lack of safe conditions for pedestrians remain relevant.

As of the end of 2024, 9,364 road accidents were recorded in the country, in which 2,203 people died.
