During a raid conducted by the operational units of the Andijan Regional Customs Administration in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, the illegal circulation of large quantities of gold jewelry was stopped.
In the city of Andijan, a person under preliminary observation was detained while receiving a package containing jewelry from another person. When the package was opened in the prescribed manner, in the presence of witnesses, it was found that it contained 3 specially prepared packages.
These packages contained 175 finished jewelry pieces with a total weight of 1 kilogram 138 grams. All the jewelry was made of gold, and there were no documents confirming their customs clearance and quality.
The initial cost of these jewelry items is estimated at around 2 billion soums. Appropriate legal measures are being taken against the goods in the prescribed manner.
It should be recalled that in the past period of this year, the customs department of Andijan region identified 55 cases of violations related to the illegal trade of jewelry.
