Foreign citizens who showed disrespect to the national currency - the sum - on the territory of Uzbekistan were held accountable before the law. It was revealed that some workers, who are citizens of China, lit the official currency of Uzbekistan and smoked cigarettes.
Appropriate legal assessment of the situation was carried out, and an official apology was made to the violators. Administrative penalties were also applied to them.
It was reported that each offender was fined 100 times the base calculation amount. The total amount of the fine was 41 million soums.
Officials emphasized that the national currency is one of the state symbols, and such treatment against it is contrary to the law. Therefore, all persons, regardless of citizenship, are obliged to comply with the laws of Uzbekistan.
