A woman from Karakalpakstan committed a serious tragic act while working in the city of Tashkent. According to court documents, she consumed medications intended to terminate pregnancy and accelerate labor, and gave birth to her child in a toilet. However, the newborn died shortly afterward.
It was established that the woman, born in 1999, had previously been married and had two children. Later, due to family problems, she divorced and came to Tashkent in 2024 in search of work. She started working at a samsa shop, but her income was insufficient to cover daily expenses.
During this period, she entered into a close relationship with a man named “Zafar” and became pregnant. Realizing that she was unable to raise another child, the woman decided to conceal the pregnancy. Without seeking medical assistance, and relying on information found on the internet, she ordered and consumed tablets intended to terminate pregnancy and accelerate childbirth.
On the morning of November 20, 2024, she went into labor and gave birth to the baby in a toilet. According to the case materials, the woman attempted to dispose of the newborn through the toilet. As a result, the baby stopped making any sounds. Believing the child to be dead, she wrapped the body in a sheet and took it to the basement of the house where she was temporarily living.
Shortly afterward, she called a gravedigger and reported that the child needed to be buried. However, due to the absence of a medical death certificate, the incident was reported to law enforcement authorities.
According to the forensic medical examination, the baby was born alive at 38–39 weeks of gestation, and the cause of death was a severe head injury. In court, the woman fully admitted her guilt.
On November 13, 2025, the Mirzo Ulugbek District Court issued a ruling sentencing the woman to two years of restriction of liberty. The sentence is to be served at her permanent place of residence.
