A statement was made regarding fake news sent on behalf of Otabek Umarov

In recent days, there has been an increase in anxiety on social networks: it was noted that on behalf of the First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Otabek Umarov, messages of various content are being sent to famous athletes and representatives of the sports community. The committee's press service stated that such letters and appeals are not official and are being disseminated through fake accounts.
According to the committee, the purpose of these "messages" is clear - to gain trust and try to deceive people by asking for information or funds. That is, it's not just a "prank": it's like a dangerous scheme.
In this regard, the National Olympic Committee issued an important reminder: all official information, statements, and news related to Uzbek sports will be published only through the committee's official information resources or through the relevant federations and associations. Therefore, trusting any account that writes "I am so-and-so" is equivalent to creating difficulties for yourself.
What should be done?
The Committee's press service asks fans and athletes:
- not to believe such suspicious information;
- not to respond to them;
- not to disclose personal data at all, such as passport, card, code, SMS received on the phone;
- immediate blocking of a suspicious account and sending a complaint (report) against it.
In short, here one should rely not on the feeling that "it's written to me," but on cold reason. The same rule in sports: if the defense is strong, the attack won't go through.
