A responsible official of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation has been arrested for a corruption crime. A leading specialist of the educational organization licensing department attempted to gain illegal income by abusing his position.
It was determined that the suspect promised to quickly resolve the issue of granting a license to open a branch of a non-state higher education institution from Karshi in the Surkhandarya region. In return, he demanded a bribe of 100,000 US dollars from the university representative.
During an operational event conducted by the Kashkadarya regional department of the State Security Service, the ministry specialist was caught red-handed in Tashkent while receiving the agreed money. A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway.
