Deputy Governor in Bukhara Exposed for Demanding Bribe from Farmer

Anti-corruption operations continue in the Bukhara region. The latest violation was observed in the Kagan district: the deputy district governor was caught red-handed while accepting a large bribe in exchange for resolving a farmer's problem.
Problem and Extortion
It turned out that an entrepreneur engaged in farming in the Bukhara district faced difficulties in irrigating fields in the “Qum Sulton” massif. The water supply interruptions were linked to restrictions on networks passing through the Kagan district.
The farmer approached the deputy governor of the Kagan district to resolve the issue legally. However, the official abused his authority, demanding 15,000 US dollars in exchange for opening the water supply and ensuring no future irrigation issues.
Operational Arrest
During a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service and the prosecutor's office, the deputy governor was caught with material evidence while accepting 12,000 dollars of the demanded amount.
Official statement: Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the official under the relevant clauses of Article 210 (Bribery), Part 2 of the Criminal Code.
Inevitability of Punishment
Based on the investigative body's motion, the preventive measure of “detention” was selected for the suspect. Investigation is ongoing to clarify all details of the crime.
Such cases once again prove that official negligence and prioritizing personal gain over state interests lead to severe legal consequences.
