Former Roma striker Roberto Pruzzo has insisted that Ukrainian Artem Dovbik should start in the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 against Athletic Bilbao, rather than Eldor Shomurodov from Uzbekistan.
Pruzzo said: "Dovbik or Shomurodov? Dovbik should start against Athletic Bilbao. If Shomurodov takes Dovbik's place in the starting lineup again this time, it could cause problems for the team. I have great respect for Shomurodov's work, but Dovbik may be able to use his experience in Spain to prove himself psychologically."
Pruzzo believes that Dovbik's experience and mental stability could be even more important in the return match against Roma. This, of course, depends on the team's performance. According to him, in the first match against Athletic, Dovbik played in the starting lineup and Roma won that match, but the fact that Shomurodov scored the goal adds some clarity to this.
It should be recalled that the first match between Roma and Athletic ended in a 2-1 victory for the Italian club. Shomurodov, at the same time, played in the starting lineup for Roma in four of the last five matches, which shows his place and importance in the team.
The issue of Shomurodov playing in the starting lineup, as Pruzzo said, could affect the team's success and future matches. Pruzzo, who recognizes the importance of experienced players working together, is more confident in Dovbik's direction in the game. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
