The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has announced the updated rankings in the heavyweight division for April 2025. Great news for Uzbekistan’s boxing fans — our compatriot Bakhodir Jalolov has entered the top 15 of the IBF rankings!
According to the official IBF chart, Jalolov is ranked 13th. This comes after his confident victory on April 5 in Astana over Ukrainian boxer Igor Shevadzutskyi.
Tough fight, full distance, and “unanimous” victory
The fight took place in Astana, and for the first time in his professional career, Bakhodir went the full 10-round distance. This was one of the rare occasions when only one of his 15 wins was not by knockout. Before that, he had knocked out 14 opponents.
The judges unanimously declared the Uzbek boxer the winner, and IBF, recognizing the result, included him in the ranking.
Twist of fate: Olympic final rival is ranked higher
Another interesting point in the chart — Bakhodir’s opponent in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic final, Richard Torrez, is ranked one spot above — 12th. Torrez also remains undefeated with 13 wins and 11 knockouts.
A potential rematch between the two is bound to spark great interest among fans.
