Roma aims to sell Eldor Shomurodov to ease financial pressure
The famous Italian club Roma is once again facing financial pressure. According to UEFA’s financial fair play rules, the club must generate at least 10 million euros in revenue by June 30, 2025. If this condition is not met, the club faces serious sanctions, reports Retesport.

Therefore, Roma is forced to place several players on the transfer list. Among them are names like goalkeeper Mile Svilar, midfielder Kone, and central defender Evan N’Dicka. Although no official decisions have been made yet, parting with some players is almost certain.

It’s worth noting that one of the most talked-about names in Roma’s squad is the Uzbek player Eldor Shomurodov. He was brought in from Genoa in 2021 for 17.5 million euros. However, that amount was agreed to be paid over several years. As of now, Roma still owes Genoa about 3.5 million euros.

Thus, if Roma manages to sell Eldor for 8 million euros and pays 3.5 million to Genoa, it could secure about 4.5 million euros in net profit. This would significantly help in partially restoring financial balance.

Additionally, another important name — Argentina national team player Leandro Paredes — may also be transferred. He signed a two-year contract with Roma in 2023. His current contract ends on June 30, 2024, and by that date, he will have a zero balance value on the club’s books. If he is sold to Boca Juniors for around 3.5 million euros, Roma would receive that entire amount as profit.

If both Eldor Shomurodov and Leandro Paredes are transferred, Roma could earn at least 6.5–7 million euros. Of course, this won’t fully cover UEFA’s required 10 million euros, but it will be an important step in reducing financial pressure.

Moreover, there is said to be serious interest in Eldor Shomurodov from other Serie A teams, as well as from French and Turkish leagues. These offers may present additional opportunities for the Romans.

Currently, Roma’s management is conducting final negotiations regarding the future of both players. If suitable buyers are found, the club can partially offset financial losses and open the door to new transfers.

Undoubtedly, these transfers could be a turning point not only for Roma’s financial stability but also for Eldor Shomurodov’s career.
