On Sunday morning, July 27, the wife of UFC fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov — Gulayim Rakhmonova — along with their son and two other passengers were involved in a serious car accident in Kazakhstan, reported Sports.kz, cited by Zamin.uz.
The incident occurred on the Almaty–Yekaterinburg highway in the Zhambyl region’s Muyinkum district, near the village of Aksuek. Rakhmonova was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser on the way from Karaganda to Almaty when the vehicle lost control and overturned at the 296th kilometer.
Tragically, two of the passengers died at the scene. Rakhmonova and her young son, born in 2022, were rushed to a city hospital and admitted to the trauma unit. Doctors describe their condition as “moderately serious,” and they are currently under close medical supervision.
According to Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan, a person driving a vehicle who causes injury or death due to negligence may face criminal charges. Authorities have already launched an investigation into the incident.
As of now, Shavkat Rakhmonov has not made any public statements about the accident. The sports community and fans are deeply concerned and are sending messages of support to his family across social media.
