Bringing a foreign coach to the Uzbekistan national team remains the main topic at the center of August discussions. In the end, Löw rejected the offer. At the moment, Timur Kapadze is considered the head coach of the Uzbekistan national team. On this situation, the bright star of the past Igor Shkvyrin expressed his views. However, the UFA continues to search for a foreign specialist.
Shkvyrin speaks openly: “As for the national team, I did not believe that Löw could accept the offer. We are not Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, there is a difference between the levels of Germany and Uzbekistan.” In his opinion, without prolonging long discussions, “a decision must simply be made now” — whether it is a well-known specialist or a coach from our own, clarity is needed.
He made an emphatic point: “Do we need a foreign coach or not, because whoever comes will need time to study the national team and the players.” At the same time, he adds: “Timur Kapadze knows all the players, true, he has little experience, but through the recent matches he was able to show his adequacy.” Here another question arises: “Does the management trust him or not, this issue also exists.”
Shkvyrin also mentions a compromise path: “Perhaps it is necessary to attract a consultant, an assistant from abroad.” That is, while preserving consistency in the head coach position, elite-level experience and methodology can be introduced into the team through an additional channel. This approach will speed up the preparation process and expand the competencies of the joint staff.
He also clearly sets the target bar: “The World Cup is a completely different level, a tournament that requires a different attitude.” Thus, regardless of the choice, timing and project discipline acquire decisive significance. If the available resources, scouting, and opponent analysis are fully employed, it becomes easier to turn the idea into a result.
The conclusion is clear: the offer to Löw is closed, while the discussion remains open. Regarding the most correct format for the national team — a foreign head coach, a local specialist, or a hybrid model — a decision must be made without delay. Because any new staff “will need time to study,” and now time is the most valuable resource.
