In recent years, the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) has significantly strengthened its reputation on the international stage. Through productive cooperation with FIFA, our country has not only become the host of major tournaments but has also gained representation within key structures of the organization.
It should be noted that in 2024, Uzbekistan hosted the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time. Moreover, in 2027, the country will host the U-20 World Cup, marking another milestone that reflects Uzbekistan’s growing football authority and global recognition.
The FIFA Committee on Football Technology, Innovation and Digital Development is one of the organization’s most important bodies. It focuses on developing, testing, and implementing advanced solutions such as VAR, goal-line technology, semi-automated offside systems, digital monitoring, and artificial intelligence.
According to FIFA Council’s decision, UFA First Vice President Ravshan Irmatov has been appointed as the Deputy Chairman of this committee for the 2025–2029 term. The committee is chaired by FIFA’s Director of Football Technology, Johannes Holzmueller.
Additionally, UFA General Secretary Avaz Maksumov has been appointed to the FIFA Beach Soccer Committee, while the Head of Women’s Football, Yuliya Panina, joins the Women’s National Teams Competitions Committee.
These appointments mark not only personal achievements but also a new stage for Uzbek football internationally, positioning Uzbekistan as one of the emerging centers contributing to innovation and the development of modern football within FIFA.
