Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has reiterated his support for the Super League initiative, which he describes as his ongoing project. "We have broken a monopoly that has lasted for more than 60 years.
In 2021, UEFA threatened to exclude clubs from competitions. They even initiated disciplinary proceedings to expel us from the Champions League.
Now, following court decisions, the situation has changed dramatically. La Liga and UEFA are trying to downplay the significance of these rulings and are focusing on finding global solutions.
They think we are foolish. The court confirmed that we were right on 21 out of 23 points and ensured the reimbursement of legal expenses.
No one can punish us for working towards our future. This victory allows us to demand compensation from UEFA for damages.
We have filed a lawsuit against UEFA, aiming to secure compensation and the right to organize competitions in the future. We have pursued this not just for a court decision but to ensure its practical implementation.
We tried to reach an agreement, but it turned out to be impossible. UEFA referred us to the European Club Association, which demanded that we withdraw all claims against UEFA.
This would mean giving up claims worth billions of euros," Perez stated in an interview with Marca. The Super League project was launched in the spring of 2021 by 12 clubs.
Currently, 10 clubs have withdrawn from the project, leaving only Real Madrid and Barcelona. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
