The head coach of Japan's national team, Hajime Moriyasu, shared his thoughts regarding the FIFA World Cup group stage draw. His team has been placed in Group F alongside the Netherlands, Tunisia, and the UEFA playoff B winner (Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, or Albania).
"I feel we have been placed in a very challenging group. The Netherlands is one of the leading football nations in the world.
Although they haven’t won the World Cup yet, they have played in the final. Tunisia, on the other hand, is a strong team that won nine matches in the qualifiers without conceding a single goal," Moriyasu told CNA.
"I want our players to prove themselves in their daily performances at their clubs and compete strongly for a spot in the national team squad. Our ultimate goal is to win the World Cup.
I know this won’t be easy, but we must approach our preparations with confidence. Certainly, we can achieve this."
Currently, Japan is ranked 18th in the FIFA rankings. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
