The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, Oleg Matytsin, shared his thoughts on goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's performance. The Russian footballer became the key figure in the Intercontinental Cup final: he saved four penalties during the shootout, ultimately securing the trophy for PSG.
According to Matytsin, if he were part of PSG's management, it would be difficult to imagine Safonov not becoming the primary goalkeeper after such an extraordinary performance. He congratulated Safonov and expressed great pride in the local school of goalkeepers.
Additionally, Matytsin gave special recognition to Krasnodar Academy. In his opinion, Safonov's brilliant display could spark a "goalkeeper boom" in Russia, inspiring young players to aspire to become goalkeepers like Matvey.
It is noteworthy that Matvey Safonov has been playing for PSG since the summer of 2024. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
