The renowned Catalan club, Barcelona, intends to continue its partnership with head coach Hansi Flick for a longer term. According to Diario Sport, citing Bild as its source, the club's management has offered the 60-year-old German specialist to extend his current contract by another season, until the summer of 2028.
Reportedly, Barcelona's management does not want any uncertainty surrounding the coach's future. Ensuring stability within the club, developing the project in a planned manner, and allowing all parties to feel at ease have been set as primary objectives. Therefore, it is considered crucial to clearly establish the duration of the contract in advance.
At present, the club's sporting director, Deco, is actively working on a new agreement with Flick. Meanwhile, the coach’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has held several important meetings with Barcelona President Joan Laporta. According to sources, during these negotiations, the parties have reached mutually close positions regarding the terms of the new contract.
It is noted that the decision to extend the contract for just one year is not initiated by the club. This choice depends on Hansi Flick himself, who has so far not been inclined to sign a long-term deal. The German specialist prefers to assess the situation at the end of each season and decide his next move accordingly.
To recall, Hansi Flick took charge of Barcelona in 2024. In a short period, he has achieved significant successes with the team, winning the Spanish Championship, the domestic Cup, and the Super Cup. These results have earned Flick great trust from both the club's management and the fans.
For this reason, Barcelona's enthusiasm to maintain cooperation with Flick remains high. Catalan fans are hopeful that the team's successful trajectory will continue for several more seasons.
