Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has openly explained why he continues to work at the club. According to the Spanish specialist, the main driving force behind his motivation is the constant renewal within the team and the emergence of new faces.
— I am always inspired by new staff and new players. If I had worked with the same people for 10 years, I would have been exhausted. To be honest, you cannot even imagine how tired they might have been of me, — Guardiola said at a press conference.
He highlighted the players who recently joined the team. Guardiola underscored the arrival of Husanov, Reyes, Echeverri, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri, Nico Gonzalez, and other new players, noting that their presence has created an entirely fresh atmosphere in the squad.
— I want to help them adapt to the team, understand our playing style, and grow into even better players. This process itself motivates me to continuously improve, — said the coach.
Guardiola emphasized that during his tenure at City, the team has never been stagnant. Both the tactics and squad composition, as well as the overall game philosophy, have consistently evolved.
— We are not doing anything the same way we used to. If the same tactics and lineup had been maintained over these years, I wouldn’t have stayed here for 10 years. Never, — he stated firmly.
It is worth noting that the Spanish coach has been managing "The Citizens" since the summer of 2016. Last season, he signed a new contract with the club, extending his tenure until the summer of 2027.
Additionally, Manchester City’s match against West Ham is set to kick off today, December 20, at 8:00 PM Tashkent time. Earlier, Guardiola humorously remarked that he might say goodbye to the club at the age of 75 or 76.
The conclusion is clear: new players mean new motivation, new energy, and new victories for Guardiola.
