The AFC U-23 Asian Cup continues in Saudi Arabia. On January 13, the Uzbekistan U23 national team played against the youth of South Korea in the final match of Group C and won with a score of 2:0. The goals were scored by Behruz Karimov and Saidumarxon Saidnurullayev. As a result, the Uzbek team, having accumulated 7 points, took first place in the group and advanced to the 1/4 finals.

Head coach Ravshan Haydarov's team will play the quarter-final match on January 17. Uzbekistan's opponents could be China, Australia, Iraq, or Thailand participating in Group D - the games are ongoing, and all four still have a chance to advance to the playoffs.
16 national teams are participating in the U23 Asian Cup, divided into 4 groups. The difference between this competition and others is that Olympic qualification is not contested. Therefore, many teams are not participating with the main squad.
The U23 Asian Cup has been held since 2013. Japan's youth have won it the most - 2 times, including the last tournament. Iraq, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia also have one victory each.
