The President of the Olympic Council of Asia was awarded the Order of Glory

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which is taking place in Tashkent.

The event was attended by heads and officials of international and regional sports organizations. Among them are Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Vitold Banka, President of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation, Gennady Golovkin, and others.

In his speech, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of sports in strengthening dialogue and cooperation between states and peoples. He also congratulated Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al Thani on his election as President of the Olympic Council of Asia and spoke about his contribution to the development of international sports.

The Assembly also presented Uzbekistan's reforms in the field of sports. In particular, it was noted that the system of complex competitions "Presidential Olympiad" has been established, the Olympic Village has been built, and the system of training highly qualified athletes is being expanded. The successful participation of Uzbek athletes in the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games was also noted.

During the Assembly, it was announced that international and Asian sports organizations have signed more than 20 agreements with the national sports federations of Uzbekistan, and various sports facilities and academies will be created. He emphasized the openness of our state to the development of sports diplomacy and the promotion of joint initiatives.

At the end of the event, Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al Thani was awarded the Order of Glory of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
