Pep Guardiola suspended for two matches

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been suspended for two matches following an argument with officials during the FA Cup match against Newcastle. At St. James' Park, the Spanish manager expressed his frustration over a rough challenge by Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier on Jeremy Doku, leading to a heated exchange with the fourth official. Following the incident, the referee showed Guardiola a yellow card.

This is his sixth booking of the season, resulting in a two-match ban under the rules. The suspension applies to Premier League and FA Cup matches. Consequently, Guardiola will not be able to manage his team from the touchline in the league match against West Ham or the FA Cup quarter-final. However, he will be available for the League Cup final on March 22, as the suspension does not affect the domestic cup final.

Guardiola commented on the situation in his characteristic style, taking it with humor. He noted that he has broken all records with Manchester City and has now become the manager with the most yellow cards. "I want all the records, and I've achieved this one too. Now I'll take a two-match break," he added. The manager also stated that he will continue to defend his players in any situation and noted that some refereeing decisions are difficult to understand.
