FIFA will not fulfill Iran's request for the 2026 World Cup

The international football organization FIFA has rejected proposals to move the Iranian national team's matches at the 2026 World Cup to another country.
Earlier, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, reported that the organization would discuss the possibility of the Uzbekistan national team playing in Mexico instead of the United States at the 2026 World Cup. This move was connected with the negotiations being held by Iran with international partners.
However, as reported by The Times, such a proposal was not officially considered by FIFA and its implementation was assessed as "impossible." Because the tournament tickets have already been sold, and the decision to move the games to another country will negatively affect the plans of other participating teams.
The Iranian national team qualified for the 2026 World Cup, securing a place in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand. At the same time, the team's matches in all three competitions are planned to be held in the USA.
It is noted that FIFA's decision was made taking into account all aspects related to the teams' competition plan and tickets for fans.
