World Boxing officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee

In February 2025, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized World Boxing as a global and temporary international organization. This decision further strengthened the global prestige of boxing.

Later, the IOC officially confirmed the inclusion of boxing competitions in the program of the 2028 Olympic Games on behalf of World Boxing. This step opened new opportunities for athletes and contributes to the development of boxing at the international level.

To date, 9 more countries have joined World Boxing, bringing the total number of member federations to 168. Notably, Russia was also included in this list. The new Member States are:

1. Mozambique

2. Zambia

3. Tonga

4. Tanzania

5. Russia

6. Papua New Guinea

7. Niue

8. Cyprus

9. Belarusian

Thus, the prestige of World Boxing at the international level has increased, and the role of boxing in the Olympic definition has expanded. The expansion of the membership list has strengthened opportunities for the development of sports in different regions and participation in international competitions.
