Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta spoke openly about the team's main deficiency after reaching the Champions League semi-finals. The London club advanced to the next stage by defeating Sporting on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
While the Gunners secured a minimal 1-0 victory away in the first leg, the return match ended in a 0-0 draw. With these results, Arsenal clinched their spot in the semi-finals.
Arteta highlighted the need to strengthen ball control as the primary issue in the team's performance. According to him, at the current stage, the team has shortcomings in handling the ball and controlling the game.
At the same time, the coach specifically noted that the players' mentality, discipline, and attitude are at a high level. He stated that these aspects are helping the team in difficult situations.
In his comment to TNT Sports, Arteta said: "Right now we are struggling with ball control. We need to manage the game better. But the players' character and attitude are there — this is giving us great strength to overcome tough situations."
It is worth noting that in the semi-finals, Arsenal will face Atletico Madrid to fight for a place in the final.
