Referee decisions sparked controversy in Husanov's match

In a central clash of the English Premier League's 33rd round, Manchester City, at home, defeated leaders Arsenal 2-1, showing they have returned to the title race. This match caused widespread discussion not only with the result but also with refereeing decisions.
Abduqodir Husanov, who played the full 90 minutes in the match, stood out as one of the most reliable players in his team's defense. He cleared several dangerous situations and effectively stopped opponent attacks.
However, some episodes of the game led to major debates. Experts specifically analyzed two decisions by the main referee, Anthony Taylor. In the first instance, the issue of a penalty and a potential red card was raised when Husanov stopped Kai Havertz, who was going clear on goal. In the second episode, the clash between Gabriel Magalhães and Erling Haaland at the end of the game was the focus.
In both cases, the referee preferred to let the game continue without severe punishment. However, these decisions were assessed by many as overly lenient.
According to former referee Keith Hackett, it was fortunate for Husanov that a penalty was not awarded in his episode. He said:
"If a foul had been called in this situation, I think it would have been judged as denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and would have led to a direct red card. Even after reviewing it, I came to the same conclusion – it was fortunate for Husanov that he remained on the field," Hackett emphasized.
Regarding the second episode, another former referee, Dermot Gallagher, expressed a different opinion. He stated that showing yellow cards to both players in the situation between Gabriel and Haaland would have been a fair decision:
"This situation might look dangerous, but if you look closely, the defender did not make clear contact with his opponent. Both players were quite aggressive throughout the game, and the referee assessed the situation correctly," Gallagher said.
According to final analyses, many experts believe that Arsenal was more disadvantaged by certain refereeing decisions in this match. In particular, Husanov remaining on the field greatly aided City's defense and was a significant factor in limiting the opponent's attacks.
In short, this match will be remembered not only for its score but also for its controversial decisions. The title race is heating up – and every detail is now worth its weight in gold.
