The return of English forward Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund is becoming increasingly clear. According to Sky, new negotiations have taken place between the player's representatives and the German club. The parties have begun discussing personal contract terms. Sancho has agreed to a significant reduction in his 15 million euro annual salary that he received at Manchester United. Borussia Dortmund management had warned the player about financial constraints several weeks ago. Despite receiving offers from clubs like Juventus, Sancho prefers a return specifically to the Bundesliga.
Sancho's current contract with Manchester United expires at the end of this season, meaning the German club will not have to pay a transfer fee. The player moved to England in 2021 for 85 million euros but failed to deliver the expected performance. Following a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag, he returned to Dortmund on a temporary basis in January 2024, helping the team reach the UEFA Champions League final.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac supports Sancho's transfer. The Croatian specialist expressed confidence in the player’s talent despite past disciplinary issues. Sancho is expected to fill the gap left by Julian Brandt, who is anticipated to depart the team.
