Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has clarified the future of Harvey Elliott. The young midfielder will return to the first-team squad for pre-season training following an unsuccessful loan spell at Aston Villa, reports Goal.com reports .
The 23-year-old spent most of the current season at Aston Villa but struggled to secure sufficient playing time under Unai Emery. He played only 284 minutes throughout the entire season, which fell short of expectations for all parties involved.
In a press conference, Arne Slot confirmed that Elliott will be part of the Liverpool squad next season. The Dutch manager admitted that the loan deal did not yield the expected results for the player's development.
According to the coach, Elliott had more playing time during his previous stint at Liverpool than at Aston Villa. Nevertheless, the club does not plan to loan the player out again and intends to keep him in the squad.
