Leon Goretzka set to leave Bayern and join Milan

Leon Goretzka is expected to join Milan after leaving Bayern. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the German midfielder spoke by phone with Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri and was impressed by the Italian manager's project. The Rossoneri have offered the player a three-year contract worth 5 million euros per year plus significant bonuses, reports Goal.com reports .
According to reports, Milan has beaten rivals such as Inter, Napoli, and Juventus in the race for the 31-year-old. During the winter transfer window, Atletico Madrid also attempted to sign the central midfielder, but the move did not materialize. Although a personal agreement between Goretzka and Milan was reached several weeks ago, one crucial condition remains for the transfer to be finalized.
For this transfer to go through, Milan must secure a Champions League spot. The team is currently battling Roma, Como, and Juventus for the remaining two spots. Ahead of the final matchday, Milan and Roma have the best chances, both tied on 70 points. A draw against Cagliari at San Siro on Sunday would secure both the Champions League qualification and the Goretzka transfer for Milan.
During his eight-year stint in Munich, Leon Goretzka won seven Bundesliga titles, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. On Saturday, Bayern will face VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final, which could be Goretzka's final trophy with the club. However, the player has recently lost his place in the starting XI.
Following the arrival of Vincent Kompany, Goretzka was told he could leave the club. Although he chose to stay and played alongside Joshua Kimmich due to injuries, he spent key matches against Real Madrid and PSG on the bench. Now, the experienced midfielder is very close to continuing his career in the Italian Serie A.
