Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler spoke warmly about his former coach Xabi Alonso. According to the Turkish talent, the Spanish tactician sent him a special message after the match against Bayern. "After the game against Bayern, he wrote to me and said he was proud of me. I was very happy to receive that message. I wish him the best, I think he is truly a great coach," the player told TRT Sport. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
The Champions League quarter-final matches against Bayern were emotional for Güler. In the second leg in Munich, Arda Güler opened the scoring early on against Manuel Neuer and later scored a brilliant free-kick to secure a brace. However, in a dramatic finish, goals from Luis Diaz and Michael Olise led the Munich club to a 4-3 victory, sending them to the semi-finals.
At the end of the match, Arda Güler could not control his emotions. After the final whistle, he was shown a second yellow card for arguing with the refereeing team led by Slavko Vincic. Nevertheless, the young star fondly remembers his time with his former coach Xabi Alonso.
"Our relationship was excellent. It was as if he handed me the key to the game, which is exactly what I was looking for. Every day he would wake up thinking about how to make a player better and how to communicate with them. When he calls you into his office to explain tactics, it's impossible not to trust him," added the Real Madrid member.
