
Sony has announced another round of layoffs, this time affecting the PlayStation software development team. The news was shared by senior technical designer Ryosuke Hana, who lives in San Francisco.
"Most of my team was just laid off from PlayStation. It was a dream to work with Sony on the platform I grew up playing since the PS1 era and to contribute to the development of PS5, Portal, PS VR2, PS App, and future consoles. If you know anyone looking for an engineer with console UI experience, feel free to reach out," Hana said.
The exact number of affected employees and the reasons behind the layoffs have not been disclosed. However, such events are no longer surprising: the gaming industry has been struggling with a financial downturn for years, making it difficult for companies to maintain previous business strategies.
