NVIDIA to ship modified chips to China

NVIDIA is preparing to restart chip sales to China after months of regulatory hurdles, reported TechCrunch.

In 2023, the company was forced to halt sales of certain AI-focused chips due to export restrictions imposed by the U.S. government. The restrictions aimed to limit China’s access to advanced technologies.

Now, NVIDIA plans to return with specially modified chips designed for the Chinese market — lower-powered but compliant with export rules. This move allows NVIDIA to retain revenue in China while helping stabilize its global supply chain.
