Artificial intelligence is no longer limited to words and images - it is now learning to write songs. It became known that OpenAI is working on a new music creation platform.
Within the framework of this project, OpenAI is collaborating with one of the world's most prestigious art schools - the Juliard Institute. The goal is to teach artificial intelligence a deep understanding of music. Experts, interpreting scores, are bringing the system closer to "thinking" like real composers.
The new system can compose music from scratch and add new sounds, instruments, or effects to existing songs. For example, it allows you to automatically add orchestration elements to a vocal track or transform a simple melody into a complete composition.
Experts say that this project will take OpenAI to a new level in the music AI market. Currently, projects like Suno and Udio are leading in this field, but the capabilities and resources of OpenAI are expected to change this competition.
Technical aspects are currently being kept secret. It is unknown whether the service will be integrated into products like ChatGPT or Sora, or whether it will be released as a separate platform. OpenAI representatives refrained from commenting on this matter.
As a reminder, the company has previously worked in this direction: in 2019, it introduced an instrumental music creation system called MuseNet, and in 2020, Jukebox - artificial intelligence that creates full-fledged songs with words and sound.
