Figure AI used Figure 02 humanoid robots for 11 months to assemble BMW cars. After the completion of the tests, the company announced the decommissioning of the robots.

During the tests, the robots helped assemble more than 30,000 BMW X3 cars and load more than 90,000 metal sheets. The company released a video in which the robots are severely damaged and scratched due to wear and tear, and you can see that the hands of some models have almost completely fallen out. The forearms were damaged mainly due to structural features.

The main task of the robots was to lift sheet metal parts from containers and place them in welding devices. Humanoids managed to load metal with an 84-second cycle, including 37 seconds for loading. The company noted that the accuracy of the work is above 99 percent. At the same time, the robots worked 10 hours a day and 5 days a week in full shifts.

The company called the results of the experiment successful and announced a phased transition to the Figure 03 generation with an improved design.
