Meta acquires humanoid robot manufacturer startup ARI

Meta has announced the acquisition of Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a startup in the field of humanoid robotics. The deal amount was not disclosed. This was reported by Techcrunch.com xabar.

A company representative stated that ARI develops technologies that enable robots to understand, predict, and adapt to human behavior in complex and dynamic environments.

The ARI team, including its founders, will join Meta's Superintelligence Labs research division. The startup was previously funded by Aix Ventures, a fund that invests in artificial intelligence projects.

ARI has been working on creating foundation models for humanoid robots capable of performing physical labor, such as household chores. One of the startup's founders, Xiaolong Wang, previously worked as a researcher at Nvidia and as an associate professor at UC San Diego.

Another founder, Lerrel Pinto, taught at NYU and founded the startup Fauna Robotics, which was acquired by Amazon last month. Both experts are recipients of prestigious awards.

Meta researchers have been working on humanoid robotics technologies for years. According to reports from last year, the company plans to create consumer-oriented robots, including AI models and hardware.

Many artificial intelligence experts believe that achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) requires training AI models in the physical world. In this process, robots learn not only through data but through direct interaction.
