A few years ago, if a person needed to understand an issue, they chose one of three main methods: submitting a query on the Internet, searching for educational videos, or consulting a voice assistant. Now, most people are choosing a completely different path: opening a chatbot and asking it. The biggest change today is that ChatGPT has become the new standard for obtaining information.
The Unprecedented Growth of the Chatbot
Launched on November 30, 2022, this chatbot reached weekly user numbers of 100 million within a few months. By the end of 2025, this indicator grew to an unprecedented level—up to 800 million. Studies show that people's attitude towards information is truly changing.
For instance, according to the Pew Research Center, 34 percent of American adults (nearly double the figure for 2023) and 58 percent of those under 30 have used ChatGPT. An AP-NORC survey indicated that almost 60 percent of adults in the US who use artificial intelligence turn specifically to neural networks for information seeking.
Why is Google "Falling Behind"?
Although traditional search engines (e.g., Google) have maintained their importance, this method has fundamentally changed with the advent of ChatGPT. Now, the tool people turn to first for help is the artificial intelligence chatbot.
The reason for this is simple and clear: ChatGPT answers questions that were previously given to search engines faster and more clearly. There is no longer a need to browse links and visit every site—one can simply read the ready and summarized answer written by the "assistant" and get the necessary information.
Undoubtedly, this convenience and ultra-speed in obtaining information will determine market dominance in the coming years. ChatGPT and similar neural networks have taken the modern person's need for information to a new level.
