Asus Introduces Special Cable to Prevent Video Cards from Melting

Asus introduced a special cable to prevent graphics cards from melting

Asus has launched a new ROG Equalizer power cable for graphics cards with 12V-2x6 and 12VHPWR connectors. The manufacturer is presenting this innovation as a hardware safeguard that equalizes current distribution between the contacts. This was reported by Ixbt.com reports.

This solution significantly reduces the risk of the connector overheating and melting.

In the U.S. market, the cable is priced at $50. In tests, when a 600 W load was applied through the FurMark program, the connector temperature was recorded at 9 degrees lower than with standard cables.

The tests were carried out using a GeForce RTX 5090D graphics card and a ROG Strix 1200W Platinum power supply.

Along with being sold as a separate accessory, the ROG Equalizer will also be included with the 2026 ROG Thor III and ROG Strix Platinum power supplies. Experts note that the cable has a fairly rigid design and must be installed carefully inside compact cases.
