Trump administration dissolves US National Science Board

The Donald Trump administration has decided to dissolve the U.S. National Science Board (NSB). This advisory body was responsible for providing recommendations to the President and Congress regarding the activities of the National Science Foundation (NSF). Ixbt.com reports on this.
The National Science Board played a crucial role in shaping science policy and determining strategies for funding fundamental research. In recent years, the foundation had been facing challenges related to budget shortages and delays in awarding grants.
Zoe Lofgren, a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, sharply criticized the decision. According to her, the board was a non-political body, and its dissolution would weaken the United States' position in global scientific competition.
Lofgren expressed concern that this step could be an attempt to replace the scientific advisory body with political loyalists. So far, no official and detailed explanation has been provided regarding the reasons for the board's dissolution.
For decades, the National Science Foundation has supported research that served as the foundation for modern technologies such as mobile phones and digital services.
