MTS blocked over 17 million spam calls

The number of spam calls from vocal studios and schools in Russia doubled in the first quarter of 2026. According to MTS, its protection service blocked more than 17.3 million such calls. Ixbt.com reports this.
Spammers initially make short calls to verify number activity, then follow up to offer their services. These calls are primarily targeted at women aged 25-44.
One in three of them has children, which explains the high demand for music education.
Andrey Biychuk, Director of the MTS Telecom Technologies Product Center, noted that artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly accurate at identifying and blocking spam numbers on the network. Meanwhile, the regulator is strengthening monitoring and accountability measures regarding mass calling.
According to him, it will become economically unfeasible for companies to conduct such calls in the near future.
