According to new information shared by insider Smart Pikachu, the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max smartphone is expected to feature a periscope camera with 10x optical zoom and an additional telephoto lens. If confirmed, this would strengthen the trend of Huawei flagships moving away from digital cropping and back to pure optical capabilities. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
As a reminder, the previous Mate 80 Pro Max model was equipped with two 50-megapixel periscope systems with 4x and 6.2x optical zoom. The 10x zoom system showcased in the Oppo Find X9 Ultra allows for high detail retention via a 230mm equivalent focal length and a complex prism system. Huawei plans to implement similar technology in its new flagship.
The new device will combine a large 1-inch main sensor with the Huawei XMAGE image processing system. It is speculated that the Huawei Mate XT 2 and the Mate 90 series will be unveiled in September-October. Smart Pikachu is known for previous accurate leaks regarding devices like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi Pad 6.
