The .rf Cyrillic domain zone celebrates its 16th anniversary

On May 12, 2010, the world's first Cyrillic top-level domain, .rf, was delegated. Today, this zone is not only the leader among Cyrillic domains but also the largest internationalized national domain. The press service of the Coordination Center for TLD .ru/.rf provided statistics on the occasion of this date. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Currently, 802,020 domain names are registered in the .rf zone, with 95.3% being actively used. The majority of domains (82.4%) belong to individuals, while 17.6% belong to legal entities. This domain is widely popular in Russian regions, especially in Crimea, the Republic of Tuva, and the Ryazan and Omsk regions.

According to statistics, an average of about 21,000 new domains are registered each month, which is 18.8% more than last year. .rf domains are used for various purposes, including web applications, landing pages, mail services, and redirects.

Starting in 2025, the ability to register domain names in 18 state languages of Russian republics was launched in the .rf zone. Already, over 2,000 domain names have been successfully registered in national languages.
