Anthropic and Volta Sign $10 Billion Contract for AI Infrastructure

Anthropic, a leader in artificial intelligence, has taken another major step toward expanding its computing capacity. According to information released by Bloomberg, the creator of the Claude neural networks has signed a contract worth $10 billion with an AI cloud startup called Volta. The agreement is strategically important for the company as competition in the sector intensifies. TechCrunch.com reports .

Founded earlier this year, Volta has undertaken to provide Anthropic with cloud computing capacity for six years. The startup initially announced that it would partner with a major but unnamed AI laboratory, while the partner’s identity was kept secret. The mystery has now been solved, revealing that Anthropic is the primary customer.

A major data center in Norway and Nvidia technologies

Crypto mining company Bitdeer is also participating as Volta’s partner in the project. Together, they will build a dedicated data center to provide the necessary computing capacity. The facility is planned for Norway and is expected to have a capacity of 133 megavatt.

The new data center will operate on Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems, the company’s latest and most advanced AI chip architecture. Volta is also a participant in the Nvidia Cloud Partner program. The program brings together cloud providers that use Nvidia graphics processors in their data centers.

Intense market competition and infrastructure expansion

In recent months, Anthropic has been actively increasing its computing capacity. The company has signed a number of major contracts to gain an advantage over its key competitors in the AI market. New computing agreements with giants such as SpaceX and Amazon were also announced recently.

Today, training AI models and ensuring their performance requires enormous amounts of energy and technical resources. The new complex in Norway and the deployment of Vera Rubin systems will enable Anthropic to develop more complex and advanced Claude models in the future. This multiyear agreement with Bitdeer and Volta will help the company achieve its long-term strategic goals.
