Microsoft Confirms Error in Windows 11 Update

Microsoft has acknowledged that the KB5089549 update for Windows 11 is causing installation issues on some computers. Experts state that the primary cause is insufficient free space in the system's EFI (ESP) partition. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

According to official documentation, if there is less than 10 MB of free space in the EFI partition, the update process stops during reboot with error code 0x800f0922. The system automatically rolls back changes and notifies the user that the process failed.

Microsoft recommends entering a specific command via the command prompt to resolve this issue. Users can change the EspPaddingPercent value to 0 using the command "reg add HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlBfsvc /v EspPaddingPercent /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f", restart the computer, and retry the update.

Corporate system administrators can use the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) group policy to resolve the issue globally. Additionally, some users are reporting slower internet speeds after the update, though Microsoft has not yet officially confirmed this.
