Uzbekistan to build a toll expressway

A toll expressway will be built in Uzbekistan along the Tashkent – Andijan route, reducing travel time between the cities from 5 to 3 hours.

On February 3, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed reports on major transport infrastructure projects, including the construction of an alternative highway between Tashkent and Andijan.

The project, developed with the support of the World Bank, will cover a total length of 314 kilometers. The new highway will not only speed up transportation but also increase the country's GDP by 2.6% and reduce the number of traffic accidents by 40%.

An international tender was recently announced for the project, attracting interest from leading foreign companies.

The meeting also discussed other prospective alternative highways. The president instructed the Ministry of Transport to develop additional projects for constructing high-traffic routes, improving road quality, and introducing various toll services. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
