Uzbekistan accelerates WTO accession process
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree abolishing the exclusive rights of state-owned companies as part of efforts to accelerate the country's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), reports uz.kursiv.media. According to the decree, monopolistic privileges of certain enterprises with state participation are revoked.

Additionally, energy efficiency standards for household appliances will be aligned with international norms. A conformity declaration system for agricultural products has been introduced.

These reforms aim to expedite Uzbekistan's WTO accession process. The country applied for membership in 1994, but the process gained momentum in 2020. Uzbekistan plans to complete the accession by 2026.
