
As of April 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s national debt has reached $42.4 billion, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, reports Kursiv. The debt grew by over $2.2 billion in the first quarter of the year.
The bulk of the debt is external — $35.5 billion, while domestic debt accounts for $6.8 billion.
Key creditors include the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (WB), which together account for $15.1 billion.
Of the total debt, $16.8 billion was used for budget support in the first quarter. Additionally, $5.9 billion was directed to the fuel and energy sector and $1.7 billion to the oil and gas industry. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
