Uzbekistan's national debt has reached 47 billion dollars

As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, Uzbekistan's national debt reached 47 billion dollars. This figure is an increase of 4.4 billion dollars compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, 39.8 billion dollars of the national debt is external, while 7.2 billion dollars is internal. The main growth in debt volume was driven by external borrowing.

According to the data, international financial institutions are Uzbekistan's largest creditors. Specifically, the country's debt to the World Bank is 9.04 billion dollars, and its debt to the Asian Development Bank is 8.3 billion dollars.

Additionally, a portion of the state's external debt is owed to China, Japan, and other foreign financial organizations. 5.8 billion dollars were raised through the issuance of international bonds.
