From January to April 2025, Uzbekistan exported 25,600 tons of mung beans worth $22.3 million, reported UPL.uz citing the State Statistics Committee.

According to the data, China was the top importer with 21,963 tons — accounting for over 85% of total exports.

Other major buyers included:
• Kazakhstan — 1,243 tons
• Netherlands — 582 tons
• Afghanistan — 505 tons
• Russia — 279 tons
• other countries — 993 tons

The growth in mung bean exports is driven by several factors. Firstly, Uzbekistan’s favorable agro-climatic conditions allow for the cultivation of high-quality legumes, which are in demand globally. Secondly, the government actively supports agriculture by introducing modern technologies and encouraging exports. Thirdly, mung beans are a versatile product used in cuisines worldwide, ensuring consistent demand.
