Uzbekistan ranks second in uranium reserves in the CIS

Uzbekistan ranks second among CIS countries in uranium reserves, reports the “Kursiv” publication.

In the world rankings, the republic is recorded in 9th place. Uranium in the country is mined using an environmentally safe method — underground leaching technology. This technology has a mild impact on the environment.

Currently, 23 mines are operational. Geological exploration is being carried out at 10 more sites. According to “Uzatom” data, uranium production volume is expected to be around 4.2 thousand tons in 2025. By 2030, this figure is planned to reach 7.2 thousand tons.
