Uzbekistan sets new rules for collecting sponsorship donations

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice has announced new legal amendments setting clear procedures for collecting sponsorship donations.

Government officials who unlawfully interfere in NGO activities will now face fines ranging from 7 to 10 times the base calculation amount (BCA). Citizens who break donation rules will be fined 3–5 times the BCA, while officials face 5–7 times the BCA.

Under the new rules, donations may only be collected during pre-announced periods and for designated purposes. Cash donations must be collected in transparent boxes sealed with a numbered or stamped seal. Transfers of cash into bank accounts are allowed only as exceptions under the law.
