Around 20 tons of kiwi from Uzbekistan were delivered to the port of Astrakhan, according to Kursiv.media. The fruits successfully passed phytosanitary inspection.
National statistics show that in the first seven months of 2025, Uzbekistan exported more than 1.3 million tons of fruits and vegetables. In monetary terms, exports grew by 35.2%, surpassing $1 billion.
The bulk of exports came from vegetables (583,800 tons) and fruits (148,200 tons). Additionally, 38,800 tons of mung beans and 4,900 tons of peppers were shipped abroad.
Back in 2021, EastFruit reported on a Kokand entrepreneur, Shukhrat Umarov, who cultivated kiwi. He noted that the fruit is frost-resistant and its yield increases every year after fruiting begins.
